Getting started

How do I connect my Steam account?

Honoo uses your Steamworks Web API key to fetch your Steam data directly from your device.

Your key needs both of these Steamworks permissions:

  • General, so Honoo can list your partner apps.
  • Financial, so Honoo can read wishlist and sales reporting.

You can create or manage a key in Steamworks: Steamworks Web API authentication.

Why does Honoo warn me about IP restrictions?

Honoo calls Steam from your device. Phones move between networks and IP addresses. If you restrict your Steamworks key to specific IP addresses, Honoo may fail unpredictably.

For Honoo, use an API key group without IP restrictions.

Why do I not see my game?

Honoo can only discover games returned by your Steamworks account. Common reasons a game is missing:

  • The Steam page is not public yet.
  • The API key does not have General permission.
  • The game is not attached to the Steamworks account for that key.
  • Steam is temporarily returning incomplete data.

If the game has a public Steam page and still does not appear, try reconnecting your Steam key.

How do I disconnect Steam?

Go to Settings > Steam connection > Disconnect.

This removes the Steamworks Web API key from your device and clears local Steam game data. Your Honoo account, App Store purchase, and game configuration stay available if you reconnect later.

Data and refresh

My data looks wrong or out of date

Honoo reads from Steam. Steam financial reporting can lag behind real sales activity, and some reports update on Valve's own schedule.

Things to try:

  • Pull down on the Status screen to refresh.
  • Check that the Steamworks API key still has General and Financial permissions.
  • Check whether the key was revoked or rotated in Steamworks.
  • Reconnect the key from Settings if Honoo shows a key warning.

Does Honoo run in the background?

Honoo can ask iOS for background refresh time. iOS decides when that work runs. It may run often, rarely, or not at all depending on battery, network, device usage, and system policy.

Background refresh is used for recent Steam checks, local notifications, and optional Discord highlights. Don't treat it as scheduled or real-time delivery.

Are notifications sent from Honoo servers?

No. Honoo schedules local notifications on your device.

Does Discord post from Honoo servers?

No. If you add a Discord webhook, the URL stays on your device. When iOS gives Honoo background time, your device may post selected highlights directly to Discord.

Honoo servers do not receive or store your Discord webhook URL.

Discord delivery is best effort because iOS controls background refresh.

Account and purchases

How do I cancel my subscription?

Honoo subscriptions are managed by Apple through the App Store.

You can manage them from Settings > Account > Manage subscription, or in iOS:

Settings > your name > Subscriptions > Honoo

How do refunds work?

App Store purchase refunds are handled by Apple. You can request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Honoo support can help troubleshoot app issues, but Apple decides refund eligibility for App Store purchases.

What happens if Valve changes the Steam API?

Honoo depends on Steamworks and Steam Store APIs. If Valve changes or removes an API that Honoo uses, we will try to adapt the app where practical.

Some changes may require you to update Honoo, reconnect your key, change Steamworks key permissions, or wait for a fix. Some changes may make a feature unavailable.

What happens if Honoo stops being maintained?

Honoo is offered as a maintained app, not as a promise of indefinite future work. If maintenance stops, features that depend on Steam, Apple, Supabase, RevenueCat, Discord, or other services may degrade over time as those services change.

Account deletion and privacy

How do I delete my account?

Go to Settings > Account > Delete my account.

This removes your account and tracked game configuration from Honoo servers, clears local Honoo data from your device, and signs you out.

If you have an active subscription, cancel it through Apple before deleting your account. Deleting your Honoo account does not cancel App Store billing.

What happens to cohort contributions after deletion?

If you opted into cohort sharing, previously submitted normalized contributions may remain in aggregate benchmark data. They are designed not to contain raw financial rows, raw counts, or your Steam API key.
